Humanity has undergone many drastic changes throughout history. However, it is important to emphasize that some degree of evolution has occurred, such as the implementation of regimes based on liberal democracy. New generations have adopted liberal democracy, a doctrine in which we not only have rights, but also obligations towards our society. We acknowledge that we have fundamental rights, such as the right to choose those who govern us, freedom of speech and even the right to life. It would be impossible to protect these rights without the implementation of legal documents, such as constitutions, but it is also necessary for organizations such as the United Nations (UN) to help protect these rights. It is true that in some countries these fundamental rights are being violated constantly, and that new generations are more conscious and proactive in the elimination of this global problem.
It would be impossible to address these inequalities without the help of organizations like the UN pressing on these issues. New generations still have a long way to go to ensure that these fundamental rights are respected across the globe; but I believe that they have taken a huge step in the right direction. That is, awareness that these rights exist, that they belong to us and that it is only a matter of time before the countries that violate these rights have to grant them to their citizens. It is necessary for youth around the world to create an awareness, start being proactive and advocate to protect these important rights; not only in their own countries, but all around the world.
