Let’s fight for the America we want

Thus reads the main editorial of the Tribuno del Pueblo. Among other things, the article laments the recent wave of hate inspired mass killings around the country including Odessa and El Paso, Texas, Gilroy, California, and Dayton, Ohio. These were followed soon after by massive ICE raids on workplaces in Mississippi, leading to the separation of hundreds of families.

In this issue you will read articles about victims of the assaults against the poor and humanity beginning to fight back in their defense, given the inaction of government or actual sabotage by those who should be looking out for our interests.

A groundswell of mass protest in Puerto Rico to corruption, in the wake of the government inaction that contributed to needless deaths from Hurricane Maria, led to the forced resignation of Governor Ricky in Puerto Rico.

On Friday, September 20, Americans across the country joined counterparts throughout the world in massive, youth-inspired climate actions against government inaction to climate change. Greta Thunberg, 16 years old, of Sweden, has inspired this movement.

The new youth column of the Tribuno carries concerns of youth such as “anxiety” in the current world we live in and defiant poetry by youthful poets.

On the streets of Chicago, you will read of family members confronting crooked cops and overturning unjust prison sentences. Former MS 13 gang members successfully organize cross border interventions for troubled youth.

Updates on the conditions of Central Americans on the Texas border and the conditions of migrants from other parts of Latin America to Puerto Rico are included.
